I have heard many versions of the full ballet. I can honestly say that I have NEVER heard a better version than this one. The dynamics are precise, yet expressive, the balance is wonderful. Rhythmically very tight, and yet not rushed. (I loved the space you gave to the Berceuse). . As I was listening, I was wondering which sections to heap praise upon, but it got hard to pick out any single section since the orchestra was so solid througout. This version was astonishing from beginning to end. (Also, a very good recording.) Thanks to the NYO for posting this! This was a great combination of skill and creative fire.

Listening to Danny Elfman speak as he shares his thoughts on the creative processes etc., is almost as good as listening to his music. He's brilliant, so passionate and absolutely fascinating.

Hola. Soy director de orquesta sinfónica. Llevo dirigiendo diferentes orquesta por 22 años. En todos estos años me toco interpretar esta bellísima obra varias veces. Los felicito pero esta obra que han logrado hacer, suena muy bien, obviamente hay que corregir algunos cosas. Pero lo primero es sacar al chico de la trompeta, no se merece tocar esta hermosa obra.

Faure might have a fit but I enjoyed it and just about everything you do. You made the proms in 2023, post it soon. In my youth ( 1847 ) I used to rehearse with Richard -tenor trombone, me piano, sight transposing into B flat. happy days.

People say how lucky an interviewer is. I say Danny is the lucky one. He had the opportunity to write for and talk with the next generation of musicians. We all retire and pass on the baton. Being such an inspiration to those who'll continue the arts is a blessing.

Superb performance, but why so many empty seats in the hall? Any concert including (a) the NYOGB or (b) The Rite of Spring (in that order!) should be packed. Shame on the (so-called) music lovers of Birmingham! (And how much longer will talent like this continue to be nourished and cherished with our current Government's philistine attitude to the Arts and the teaching of music?)

So young and fantastic orchestra ! At 14:00 slow and soft passage, just delicious. What a piece !

Would have been much better with more consistency in legato phrasing. And a little coaching in the use of slide vibrato would have helped. That not forthcoming and all other things considered, it was a creditable job 😊
